Creative Session Leaders – Summer Playscheme 2024
Location: Hargrave Hall Community Centre, Hargrave Road, N19 5SP
Are you passionate about creativity and working with children? We’re expanding our summer playscheme program and are looking for dynamic individuals to join our team as session leaders!
Our summer playscheme offers a fun and engaging environment for children aged 7 to 12 to explore, learn, and make memories during the summer break. From arts and crafts to outdoor adventures, our program is designed to inspire creativity and foster friendships.
Responsibilities:
– Design and lead creative sessions* and activities for children aged 7 to 12.
– Plan engaging and age-appropriate workshops, games, and projects.
– Foster a positive and inclusive environment where children can express themselves and unleash their creativity.
– Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during sessions.
*creative sessions could include: cooking/baking, dance, drama, music to nature and the sciences
Requirements:
– Passion for creativity and working with children.
– Previous experience working with children in a educational, or recreational setting preferred.
– Ability to design and implement engaging and interactive activities.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude!
Duration: One week (five days), between 10am to 2pm
The programme runs between Monday 29th July to Friday 30th August 2024 therefore we are looking for five people running one session per week.

Playscheme Healthy Eating Cook
Location: Hargrave Hall Community Centre, Hargrave Road, N19 5SP
Working over Easter, Summer and Christmas School Holidays the successful candidate will be an integral part of the playscheme team providing fresh, nutritious, and well-presented two course lunch, suitable for children aged between 5 to 11 years and be responsible for running small group food related activities.
Day shift – Monday to Friday
Hours: 10:00 to 15:00
Dates based on Islington Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays*
*maximum of 5 weeks over the duration of the holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that meals that are prepared reflect any special dietary requirements of the individual children; ‑ referring to food allergies, food intolerances, cultural needs, vegetarian requirements and any other, according to the information supplied by the Team Leader.
- To contribute ideas to menu planning with the Team Leader, ensuring that the children receive a healthy nutritionally balanced and culturally diverse diet.
- To maintain a safe, clean and healthy kitchen environment at all times.
- To adhere to the ‘Safer Food better Business standards and record keeping. To strictly adhere to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety precautions at all times. Be aware of and implement Health and Safety procedures including Risk Assessments and COSHH.
- To ensure stock rotated daily and stock is monitored and maintained through the weekly shopping order.
- To ensure that equipment is maintained in good order and that any faulty or potentially dangerous equipment is immediately removed and reported to the Hargrave Halls Management.
- To ensure that equipment and materials (including the dishwasher, microwave, oven, fridges and freezers are cleaned and everything is cleared away leaving the kitchen neat and tidy at the end of the day in line with the daily and weekly cleaning checklist
- To maintain a neat and tidy appearance at all times, displaying a courteous and pleasant manner towards all. To be motivated, enthusiastic and innovative about the role.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- A Current Food Hygiene Certificate
- An ability to cook.
- An ability to use food preparation equipment and ensure the economic use of materials, equipment and energy.
- An understanding of nutritionally balanced foods
- An awareness of dietary needs, food allergies, culturally diverse menus,
- Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety, Environmental health and Food Safety and COSHH
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Ability to manage own time and prioritise tasks
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to Equal Opportunities
- Create menus
- Experience of cooking in an early years or school setting.
Team Contribution

CARETAKERS WANTED IN N19 AREA
Hargrave Hall Community Association is looking to appoint two caretakers to look after two community centres within Archway N19. The centres are currently used by a number of local groups on a weekly or monthly basis and local residents on the weekends.
We are looking for a responsible and dedicated individuals looking for a part-time opportunity to make a difference in your community?
The successful applicants will be given considerable autonomy with regards to the day to day running, be well organised, self motivated and flexible in their working methods.
Each caretaker will have one centre to manage and also work together sharing the responsibility of opening and closing either centre on the weekends for party bookers.
This is a pivotal role, ensuring a vibrant and well managed facilities for the benefit of local residents and organisations.
Duties:
- Interacting with bookers and local residents
- Cleaning inside the building
- Sweep and litter pick
- Outside Patrols
- Light Gardening duties
- Refuse Collection
- Fire Alarm tests
- Logging deliveries and contractors
- Opening and closing the building on the weekends for party bookers
- Person Specification:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Honest and Reliable
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
The right person should be willing to engage and deal with residents’ queries and requests in a professional and appropriate manner.
Hours: 5 hours per week – Weekends only – Flexible based on demand
Salary: £11.00 per hour
